International Journalism Festival

The International Journalism Festival is an annual journalism conference held in Perugia, Italy. Anthony DeRosa spoke at the 2013 edition (IJF13) while serving as Social Media Editor at Reuters.

Panels

DeRosa appeared on four panels at IJF13:

• "What's the ROI of your reporting?" — a presentation on measuring the value of social-media-driven reporting, introduced by Sergio Maistrello.
• "Covering emergencies in the age of big data" — on crisis mapping and verification during humanitarian emergencies, alongside Aron Pilhofer, Christopher Reardon, Rina Tsubaki, and Claire Wardle. The subject overlaps directly with The Verification Handbook, which DeRosa co-authored around the same period.
• "Citizen journalism 2.0" — on the growing role of user-generated content in newsgathering, alongside Adam Baker, Eric Carvin, Stuart Hughes, and Mark Little, founder of Storyful.
• "Building communities" — on building reader communities as a revenue strategy, alongside Emily Bell, Steve Buttry, and Jane Martinson.
